Gawsworth Post Office

Gawsworth Sports Day circa 1922 believed to have been held on the field opposite
the Harrington Arms. The four central figures are Phyllis & Sarah Elizabeth Trueman (aka
Bessie), their cousin Alec Hedley Warrington and their mother Martha Jane Trueman.
Phyliss is the mother of John Davenport and Alac Hedley married Ivy Newton.

* The postcard to the left on the second row, post-marked 15th December 1910, contains the following text on its reverse ... "This is part of our village. Pass this way every morning to work. The second house on the right is the School house & School. Farther along is the Post office. I turn to the right to go to town. Where the railings are is the cross or supposed to be where people used to preach before Churches were built" .
