Cllr Geoff Bath, Town Mayor 2009 - 2010
Dear Visitor
Thank you for visiting Frodsham on-line during this,
the 800th anniversary of the granting of the Charter to invest Frodsham as a borough by Randle Blundeville
(Earl Palatine of Chester) in the reign of King John in 1209. I hope you will enjoy browsing these pages and
find them useful. If you can't find what you're looking for do contact our office and members of our staff will
do their best to answer your query satisfactorily.
We who live in Frodsham are proud of our town,
which was mentioned in the Domesday Book. In more recent years Frodsham has won the Community
Pride award in both 2006 and 2007 as well as being the overall winner of the Best Kept Village Competition
in 2001.
Our town is an enchanting place with its open spaces, historic buildings, Thursday market
and 'walks' to suit many and varied tastes and abilities! Why not join one of our organised walks during the
Walks Festival organised by the Council in April/May every year? This year there were seventeen walks
with distances varying from approximately 2 to 13 miles - this event is growing rapidly in popularity!
In July we have our Festival in the Park (organised by the Rotary Club of Frodsham & Helsby), which this
year is preceded by a parade to celebrate the 800th Anniversary Year. The Best Kept Garden Award,
which is normally given to the four wards of Frodsham, will, for the first time, also have an overall winner to
whom a cup will be presented.
Other notable events are FCA's Bonfire and Fireworks Night in
November, the Christmas Festival in December (with stalls, Father Christmas and reindeer!) and the
New Year's Eve Beacon and Torchlight Procession (31st December). A mention must also be made of
Frodsham's wonderful Christmas Lights!
Finally I shall be nominating The U.K. Kidney foundation
as the beneficiary of The Mayor's Charity Fund 2009/2010 and shall be organising fund raising events,
the details of which will be posted on this web site. If you wish to make a donation to this worthy cause
please contact our office for details.
We update our web site regularly. Please visit us again soon.
