MEETINGS
Date of Next Meeting:- Tuesday
13th April 2010 at 7:30 pm in the Village Hall.
Gawsworth
Parish Council currently holds its regular
council meetings eight times a year on a Tuesday
evening at circa six-weekly intervals. They are
normally held in the committee room in the
Village Hall (aka Parish Hall) unless they happen
to fall on the first Tuesday of a month, in which
case the venue is switched to the Church Hall.
The council meetings commence at 7:30 pm prompt
and they are open to both the public and the
press. By law the public can't speak at meetings,
unless invited to, but any issues can be raised
before or after the meeting with the Clerk or any
of the councillors. The council also has an
obligation to hold an Annual Parish Meeting
between 1st March and 1st June of each year. This
meeting starts at 7:00 pm prompt and is
immediately followed by the council's AGM at 7:30
pm. At least three clear days notice of a meeting
has to be given. Members of the council are each
sent a 'summons to attend' by post and, in
addition, standard 'meeting notification' posters
are placed on those notice boards in the parish
owned by the council. Also the most recently
ratified meeting minutes are pinned to a notice
board inside the Village Hall and additionally
made available for public scrutiny at the Village
Store in Longbutts Lane. [Photograph
