Crime
Unfortunately the
lull in Burglaries came to an abrupt end at the start of the month with over a
dozen offences reported this month. Offences stretched from Nether Alderley to Mere
to Leigh Road and the town centre, with the majority being carried out at high
class residential properties. A number of promising leads are being followed up
and a male from the Greater Manchester area has been arrested in connection to
a number of these offences. He remains on police bail.
A number of
residents have been concerned by approaches made by a ‘Security’ company
following burglaries in their
neighbourhood. If you are concerned by their activity or any other company
offering security advice please free to contact myself or indeed any member of
the team to discuss.
Traffic
Driver Engagement Day – Another joint initiative between the Fire
Brigade and ourselves was held on the A56 Lymm Road, Little Bollington. Residents had expressed concern
over perceived speeding motorists in the 40 mph stretch outside the school. Between
9am and 1030 am 24 vehicles were stopped for speeding , with one of the drivers
being found to be 3 times over the drink drive limit!
Students
at the David Lewis became the newest recruits of Community Speedwatch. Staff
and students alike are now trained as observers and can be seen proudly taking
to the streets of Great Warford adjacent to the college.
Police
Surgeries
Over
the past month the team have rolled out the first of a number of their monthly
surgeries. These surgeries are held in Warford
Park, Mobberley, Marthall Village Hall, and Booths supermarket for Bexton and
Nether Wards. This is in addition to
the surgeries that have been held over thepast months. All details of
surgeries, with locations and times etc can be found on the Cheshire Police
website by following the link to the Knutsford Neighbourhood Policing
Team.
Rural Watch
Another
success to report. A stolen horse box that had been circulated through the
scheme was quickly spotted in Sale and was promptly recovered within 24 hours.
Other areas of note
Knutsford
May Day weekend passed with only a few incidents being reported which was a
great improvement on last year’s levels for both crimes and incidents. I put
the success down to a combination of the support we received from the licensed
premises with regards to their opening times etc and equally the fair organiser
Mr Collins who agreed to my request to fund a number of SIA registered door
staff to help mange the fair which allowed my staff and I to concentrate our efforts
where needed across the town. In all 22 fewer crimes were reported in May 2009
compared to May 2008.
